Delozier to Host Biannual Car Seat Safety Check on Sept. 12
HARRISBURG - Rep. Sheryl Delozier (R-Cumberland) will host a car seat safety check on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 4-7 p.m., at L.B. Smith Ford,
1100 Market St., Lemoyne.
Local law enforcement will be on hand to ensure that child safety seats are properly secured in vehicles. Parents and caregivers also will be instructed on the correct installation procedures.
“It is important to have a properly installed car seat to protect a child in a crash and reduce the severity of any injuries. I want families to be assured their seats are installed correctly by having them evaluated by trained personnel,” Delozier said.
Vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Pennsylvania law requires all children under the age of 4 to be fastened in a car seat while riding in a vehicle. Until the age of 2, children must be rear facing. Children ages 4 through 7 must be in an approved booster seat when riding in a vehicle.
