Quinn Announce $1 Million Grant for Doylestown Hospital’s Cardiac Institute
HARRISBURG – Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-Bucks) today announced that a $1 million grant from the Redevelopment Capital Assistance Program (RACP) will benefit local cardiac patients seeking care at Doylestown Hospital.
“This $1 million grant is great news, not only to Doylestown Hospital, which will help it expand and enhance its clinical heart and vascular medicine services, but also to hundreds of families and individuals who are in need of cardiac and vascular care closer to home,” said Quinn. “I am pleased an investment of this size is being made in our area and in a critical health care field. This type of project not only enhances health care but creates good, family-sustaining jobs.”
The $1 million grant will be used to construct and renovate 100,000 square feet of cardiac heart and vascular space with the fundamental focus of expanding capacity, enhancing patient safety and privacy, and integrating state-of-the-art advanced technology services, and providing continued provision of vital health care services. This is all within the Richard A. Reif Heart Institute.
In the past nine years, Doylestown Hospital’s Heart Institute has received regional and national recognition for cardiac care and cardiac surgery excellence. It will also lead to the creation of 35 full-time jobs, tying new local and regional economic benefits to a vital health care project.
The hospital will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary and is one of the few remaining independent hospitals in the area.
RACP provides grants to local communities for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic and historical improvement projects. The funding may be used for the design and construction of facilities that are economic development projects which generate substantial increases in employment, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity.
For nearly 20 years, RACP has reported numerous successes, with billions of dollars being injected into communities across Pennsylvania for valuable economic development projects.
Quinn thanked the governor for his assistance in securing additional funding for this vital economic development project.
