4/12/2016
WHAT: The House Gaming Oversight Committee, led by Rep. John Payne (R-Dauphin), will meet to consider two pieces of legislation dealing with problem gambling and hold a public hearing on two Bingo Law bills during committee activity this week.

• On Wednesday, April 13, the committee will convene at 9 a.m. in Room G-50 of the Irvis Office Building to consider House Bill 1887, sponsored by Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny), which would require the Pennsylvania Department of Health to maintain one toll-free gambling assistance number for all Pennsylvania casinos to use; and House Bill 1925, sponsored by Rep. James R. Santora (R-Delaware), which would require unused Local Law Enforcement Grant (LLEG) program funds to be annually transferred to the Compulsive and Problem Gambling Treatment Fund. The LLEG program provides grants to law enforcement to combat illegal gambling.
• Immediately following the voting meeting, the committee will hold a public hearing to learn more about House Bill 1334, introduced by Rep. Kate Klunk (R-York), which would update Pennsylvania’s Bingo Law pertaining to all nonprofits in the Commonwealth; as well as House Bill 108, introduced by Rep. Dom Costa (D-Allegheny), which would amend a provision of the state Bingo Law impacting firefighters in Allegheny County.

WHO: Payne, bill sponsors and members of the House Gaming Oversight Committee. Representatives from the Pennsylvania Association of Nationally Chartered Organizations and Pennsylvania Gaming Alliance are scheduled to present testimony at the public hearing.
